The Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) visited local manufacturers for business retention visits on June 5, 2015. CCEDC’s President/CEO, Charlie Walker and the Lt. Governor visited Bloomer’s Optimum Plastics for an executive lunch meeting to discuss business endeavors within the company’s management team; following the luncheon the Lt. Governor was given a tour of the plant, and hosted a meet and greet session with Optimum’s staff. Following the visit to Optimum, Walker and the Lt. Governor traveled to Chippewa Falls to meet at Advanced Laser Machining (ALM), an industry leading metal working company. The ALM executive team and other invited guests toured the facility and had a networking meeting with the Lt. Governor.

Business retention visits are confidential and used to gather information in an effort to gain a better understanding of Chippewa County business needs. This information provides the CCEDC team a snapshot of the strengths and weaknesses of the Chippewa County business environment, and allows CCEDC to set priorities for action that will help keep local businesses thriving and growing, thus strengthening the local economy. CCEDC conducts business retention visits as part of our Business Retention and Expansion program; during these visits CCEDC staff, board members, elected officials, and other invited guests meet with local business leaders to learn more about the business, identify any needs/issues they may be experiencing, and to form relationships. CCEDC was honored to have the Lt. Governor join us while visiting Optimum Plastics and ALM.
